Show Legion Aux.. Sees Art Conducts Initiation A full evening of fine entertainment entertain-ment was afforded members of the American Legion Auxiliary on Wednesday evening of the past-week. past-week. At 7:30 p.m., the group numbering approximately 60 members, mem-bers, assembled at the high school Art Gallery, where they were taken on a tour of the art by Mrs. Mary Schwartz. Later at Memorial hall, an impressive im-pressive initiation ceremony was conducted by Mrs. Julia Sumsion, unit president, for twenty four ' new members. The pledge was directed by Mrs. Ruby Christensen, past president and as officers, Marjorie Frandsen, Minnie Groes-beck, Groes-beck, Hazel Roylance and Manila Brown, explained the four symbols for which the Legion Auxiliary stands, candles were lighted and Mrs. Mary Clegg presented each with a red poppy, bookletts on the Constitution and Flag ' Etiquette and their membership pins. During the ceremony, piano music was played by Mrs. Mary Witney and as a fitting climax. Don Gottfred-son Gottfred-son sang, "Your Land And My Land", while the American flag waved before the assembly. The names of the new members were announced by Mrs. Olive Miller and Mrs. Mabel Brown, membership member-ship chairmen. At the close of the program, light refreshments were served by Hostesses, Mrs. Emma Gardner, Gard-ner, Mrs. Lela Packard, Mrs. Leah Jones and Mrs. Ellen Anderson. |
