Show Ray Milland Heads Cast of Colorful "California" One of the most spectacular and important productions ever to bear the famous Paramount trade mark is due next Thursday on the screen of the Rivoli Theatre. It is the technicolor adventure-romance "California," co-starring Ray Mil-land, Mil-land, Barbara Stanwyck and Barry Bar-ry Fitzgerald, with a supporting cast of more than 5,000 headed by George Coulouris, Albert Etekker, Anthony Quinn, Frank Faylen and Gavin Muir. "California" is set in the days before the state was part of the Union, when it was the storm center cen-ter of violently opposing factions, those who wanted it to become a part of the growing republic and those who wanted it to become an empire. Special music was written for the fijm by E. Y. Harburg and Earl Robinson and three numbers are sung by Miss Stanwyck, "Said I To My Heart, Said I," "I Should Have Stood in Pennsylvania," and "Lily-I, Lily-O." |
