Show CAROL DRAKE IS NEW ECONOMIST FOR SAFEWAYS, INC. . Carol Drake ; will be the new name of the Director of Safeway Stores, Inc., home economics department de-partment according to an announcement an-nouncement today by the retail grocery concern: The new director's direc-tor's services will be offered to the public through The Home-makers' Home-makers' Bureau, will result from Safeway's department for testing commodities and developing menus for use in the home for 15 years. Carol Drake's home economics advice, offered through The Home- makers' Bureau, will reult from testing and experimenting by fifteen fif-teen professional home economics authorities under the direction of Julia P. Hindley, manager of this Safeway department. "Carol Drake's suggestions and ideas will result from a complete home testing service," continued Mrs. Hindley. "We will have kitchens and various home testing test-ing room to try out ideas or to seek solutions for home problems. Carol Drake will also have the advantage of a complete research service. Safeway has the largest lar-gest library of cook books and home economics material in the United States outside of the Library Li-brary of Congress." Prior to the announcement of the new name of Carol Drake as the Director of the Homemakers' Bureau, Safeway's home economics econo-mics operation was conducted under un-der the name of Julia Lee Wright, a name which was used jointly with Family Circle magazine.
