Departing Missionary Honored At Numerous Social Events Prior to his leaving for his labors in the African mission, Robert Thorn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Thorn, has been complimented with a number of socials and family gatherings given by relatives and friends during dur-ing the past few days. Friday evening, before the Tau-sig Tau-sig invitational dance, Miss Norma Nor-ma Brockbank gave a dinner party at her home with guests including Mr. and Mrs. Dick Sumsion, Dean Packard, Miss Elna Shakespeare and the guest of honor. Mr. and Mrs. G. Lowry Anderson entertained in compliment to Robert Rob-ert at a family dinner at their home on Sunday, and on Tuesday evening the family were guests at a dinner party given by Mr. and Mrs. Joe Miller. To bid him farewell also, approximately ap-proximately thirty close neighbors asembled at the Thorn home Monday Mon-day evening and enjoyed the time listening to piano music by the guest of honor, as well as other program numbers. They presented him with a number of lovely going away gifts and the evening social was concluded with light refreshments. refresh-ments. Robert and his school friends were also given a party on Saturday Satur-day evening by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Thorn. A nicely nice-ly arranged buffet supper was served and music and games were enjoyed. ' Prizes for the games were awarded to Dick Haymond. June Hughes, Norma Brockbank and Kent Miner. The guest list included: Mr. and Mrs. Dick Sumsion, Sum-sion, Dick Haymond, June Hughes, Kent Miner, Mary Mae Nichols, Dean Packard, Elna Shakespeare, Norma Brockbank and Robert. Another enjoyable gatehering was the dinner party given by Mr. and Mrs. Grant Thorn for members mem-bers of the Thorn families, at their home recently. |
