Show Russel Groesbeck To Leave Soon For Mission Field Farewell Sunday in Third ' Ward 6 P. M., Open House To Follow At Parents' Home Russel Groesbeck, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Berton Groesbeck, has v'" ; I RUSSEL F. GROESBECK been called to serve in the North Central States mission, and the date for his leaving for the mis- sion home in Salt Lake City is set for Monday, February 14. In his honor, a farewell testimonial testi-monial is to be conducted in the Third ward sunday evening, beginning begin-ning at 6 p. m., in the Third-Ninth Third-Ninth ward chapel. The program planned for the occasion oc-casion includes the opening song, "O Say What Is Truth," followed by invocation by Glen W. Sumsion of the stake presidency. The sacrament sac-rament song will be "My Prayer," and will be followed by a piano duet by Janet Groesbeck, sister of the departing missionary, and Mrs. Lucille Bird. Bishop Glen Christensen Christen-sen will give a talk, and Janice Sargent and Ruth Sargent will give a vocal duet, accompanied by Blair Sargent. Remarks will be made by the parents of the missionary, mis-sionary, and response by the missionary. mis-sionary. A vocal solo will be given by Wm. L. Schreiner, and remarks will be made by Bishop V. C. Mendenhall. The closing song by the congregation will be "God Be With You," and the benediction bene-diction will be by Nathan Hales. Elder Groesbeck is a graduate of the Springville high school and the Seminary. Following gradua- tion, he went into the Navy and took student training at the University Uni-versity of Colorado at Boulder, Colo. Upon his release from the Navy he continued his training at the university, and graduated in the spring of 1948. In July of last year he went' to Akron, Ohio, where he had been employed with the Goodyear Tire company as a chemical engineer. During his residence in Spring ville he took active part in ward auxiliary organizations, and had also been active in church work in the branch in which he had more recently resided. lie arrived home this week from Ohio and in his honor open house is being held at the home of his parents, immediately im-mediately after the farewell testimonial. AH friends and relatives of the departing missionary mis-sionary are cordially invited to visit with him at that time. |
