Show Legion Announces Annual Oratorical Contest At The High School March 15 Prizes Up To $4000 Await Winners In the Event Sponsored By the American Legion For Purpose of Educating Youth In Way of Life The possfbility of winning up to $4000 in prizes awaits Springville high school students interested in entering- the American Lee-ion snonsored oratorical contests, it was announced this week by Lee R. Walker, chairman of the Springville event. , The local high school tryouts to select a district winner will be held at the high school on March 15. One week later, also in Springville; Spring-ville; the district contest will be conducted, and on March 26, at 2 p. m., the state contest will be held at Payson. The winners of the high school contest will be awarded gold, silver and bronze medals. The state winners win-ners will be given a $25 war bond and second place ?10 in war saving sav-ing stamps. Also, the state winner win-ner wvUl have all expenses paid to the regional, sectional and national finals. If the state winner is a girl, her expenses and those of an advisor will be paid. First place winner in the national nation-al contest will receive a $4000 award; second place, a $2500; third. $1000; fourth, $500, or a total of $8000 to be given. The prize money is to be used for educational education-al purposes only.
