Show DATES SCHEDULED FOR STATE FAIR By official board action, the dates for the 1945 Utah State Fair have been set for Sept. 3 through a nine-day exposition and marks Sept. 11. This period provides for a departure from tradition, since no previous fair has ever been scheduled for a longer run than eight days. Another innovation will be the launching of the fair on Monday, Labor Day. The custom cus-tom has always been to open on the Saturday preceding Labor Day. These changes have been made to confrm with a schedule f expanding ex-panding fair activity looking to the climactic year of 1947, said Sheldon R. Brewster, secretary-manager. secretary-manager. The fair in 1946 will also have unique significance inasmuch as it is the 50th anniversary of the year in which Utah was grant-hood. grant-hood. Accordingly, it is the plan of the Utah State Fair association associa-tion to key its activities to this sequence of historic events. The fair this year has adopted as its theme "the portrayal of postwar Utah." "It is well understood," under-stood," said Mr. Brewster, "that the war is not yet won, that there is a difficult road ahead to the goal of total vitory. But we are far enough along that there can now be a graphic appraisal of things to come. The government itself is leading the way in reconversion. recon-version.
