Show ROAD PROMISED TO MARK MORMON TRAIL A safe automobile highway over the old Mormon Trail from Hene-' Hene-' fer to the "This is the Place" mon-I mon-I ument at the mouth of Emigration j canyon has been promised by the I State Road Commissioner. The highway will follow the original I wagon trail left by the Mormon Pioneers who first entered Salt Lake Valley 99 years ago. The construction money ' will come from the Dept. of Publicity and Industrial Development funds. The entire 14-mile stretch of road will be within a state park area, and is expected to prove an important im-portant tourist lure along with the monument and the 577-acre park at the mouth of the Canyon. It is in the center of this park, on a knoll, that the $250,000 "This Is The Place Monument" will be erected. The park will be of the mountain type and plans call for planting of 1,000 trees, shrubs, and flowers. Work on the park has already started. |
