Show ART EXHIBIT ATTRACTING MANY VISITORS Many State Functions Held In Gallery; Others Are -Scheduled During This Month Although much bad weather has prevailed since the opening of the High School Art Exhibit the first of this month, and the Art Building like many other local public buildings has been affected by the gas shortage, there still have been hundreds of visitors at the national exhibit. Several meetings which have included representatives from all parts of the state, have already been held in the Art Gallery and all visitors have commented on the fine quality of the paintings exhibited. Several artists and prominent art patrons have at various times viewed the paintings, and they also have been lavish in their praise of the works on exhibition. The exhibit will continue through April and will undoubtedy be the center of attraction of art-minded art-minded persons of the state dur-ng dur-ng the remainder of the month. Included among the larger gatherings gath-erings for which the Art Exhibit is the major attraction is the state Federated Women's Clubs Tea, plans for which are practically practi-cally completed. This event will be on the afternoon of Saturday, April 20, from 3 until 6 p. m., at the Art Gallery, and many visitors are expected. Easter Sunday, April 21, is also expected to be a popular visiting day for art patrons, and several hundred persons are expected on this day. Every evening until the 9 o'clock closing hour, visitors are founding viewing the many fine paintings. Already many visitors are expressing ex-pressing their opinion in regard to the painting, or paintings, that should be selected by the high school to become a part of the permanent collection. Judges this year, according to critics, will have a hard time choosing the prize paintings. In the selection, however, several items, including the sale price, will be .considered. The unveiling of the prize painting, paint-ing, however, is always a phase of the exhibit which is anticipated with the greatest of interest among local as well as out-of-town art enthusiasts. |
