Show Plans Completed For New Freezing Unit Unit To Be Built At Cost Of About $90,000 Will Include Conveyer Belt To Freeze Vegetables And Compartments for Quick Freeze Plans are practically completed for construction of a new $90,000 freezing unit in Springville, according to announcement an-nouncement made early this week by V. R. Eddington. The unit, to be of tunnel type construction, will be built just north of the local canning factory and work on the building will begin be-gin as soon as equipment and materials ma-terials are available, Mr. Eddington Edding-ton said. Already some of the equipment has arrived for the npj project. A , The building will be a'errxi-mately a'errxi-mately 70 feet by 125 feet, ojucerVk and tile construction. i The vegetables will be froztV on a huge conveyer belt about five feet wide and 65 ft long. The produce pro-duce will be frozen as it passes along the belt and later will be placed in packages and stored. Storago, sspace for between 20 and 25 cars of frozen produce will be provided in the new building. Beneath the conveyer belt, which will be about 15 feet high, compartments will be. constructed for the quick freezing of fruit. When the fruit is frozen, it also will be packaged and- placed in the storage rooms. Mr. Eddington said it is not probable that the unit will be in complete operation this season but plans are going forward to complete com-plete the unit at the earliest possible pos-sible date. The freezing unit will be the first of its kind in operation in this vicinity. Frozen fruits and vegetables are becoming more and more in demand and are considered consid-ered by many as the most perfect per-fect method by which to preserve various types of produce. With the completion of the freezing unit, it will be possible to process more fruits and vegetables veget-ables locally, resulting also in an increased payroll in the locality. |
