Show BOYS REPORTED ' IMPROVING AFTER ACCIDENT Brain Concussion And Leg Fracture Place j Brothers In Hospital j Darrell and Gary Hatfield, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Hatfield, Wednesday were reporter recovering recov-ering from injuries sustained in an automobile-bicycle accident which occurred last Monday morning as the boys were enroute to school. Darrell, 15, suffered a concussion concus-sion of the brain and painful body bruises and his brother Gary, 9, sustained a fractured ankle and severe body bruises, when they were struck by a car driven by Melvin Hanks of Salem, on highway high-way 91, near the underpass south of Springville. When the motorist sounded his horn, the boys, both riding the same wheel, turned to the left in the direction the motorist turned and the fender of the car struck the rear of the bicycle, throwing the boys to the pavement. They were brought to the office of Dr. C. W. Judd for first aid treatment, and later taken to the Utah Valley hospital. Gary was released the same day and is confined con-fined to his home. Darrell was reported re-ported as improving at the hospital. hos-pital. . An investigation of the accident by Police Chief H. M. Weight, indicated in-dicated that the motorist was trav-ing trav-ing at a moderate speed and that due to the storm an'.d slippery road at the scene of the accident, it was termed unavoidable. |
