Show OWI CONTINUED AS PROTECTION FROM ENEMIES "Destroy the Office of War Information In-formation and you leave the field to the enemies of democracy," declare de-clare Quentin Reynolds, Wm. L. Shirer, Robert St. John, Grank Gervasi, Leland Stowe, Marquis Childs, Paul Galico and John W. Vandercook, in a telegram to members of the Senate Appropriations Appropria-tions Committee. The war correspondents say that they have seen the OWI "at work on the spot and we know it is vital that that work shall continue on an enlarged scale." Here is the argument of the writers: writ-ers: "While the physical war is ended end-ed in Europe, the war of words continues. It rages now more violently vio-lently than ever. Fascism and Nazism Na-zism must still be beaten, not only in Europe but all over the world. "In this continuing conflict of ideas in Europe, we have only one weapon left the printed and spoken spo-ken word. |
