Many accidents and fatalities could have been prevented, they say, if the driving shortcomings of the car's operator had been noticed and corrected when he applied for a licence. Utah's 1946 auto registrations were up 23,000 over the previous year, which would seem to indicate a need for tightening up the requirements re-quirements for securing a driver's license. The licensing of drivers is only effective if the examination is thorough and the examining officers offi-cers are well trained.
