Show Kolob M Men Open Hoop Play Four Teams Will Vie For Kolob Stake Basketball Crown; First Meets Mapleton, Second Plays Fourth Tonight M Men basketball in the Kolob stake will officially open tonight to-night with two games scheduled. First will travel to Mapleton where they will meet die touted Mapleton team at 8:30 p. m. Second will oppose the Fourth in the high'1 school gym at 8 p. m. Both games will be free to the public. Although the M Men manpower shortage is acutely felt in the stake, the four competing wards have rounded up teams that should prove strong enough to furnish close competition. Mapleton Maple-ton ward, back with practically their entire team of last year, is being favored over the local wards inasmuch as the local wards will have practically new clubs. The First ward team, defending stake and district titleholders, were left with only two men from their last year's championship club, Woody and Bet Weight. On the club this year are Bert Cherrington, Orval Dallin, Owen Fullmer, Glen Bjarnson, Bjarn-son, Allan Barker, Reed Clements and Don Miller. In the Second ward the M Men team will be composed of practically practi-cally an entire new team with . Leonard Harward, Lee Miner, Jeff Miner, Carl Boyer, Merlyn Fox, Glade Tuttle, Bert Miner and La Mar Crandall making up the team's roster. This club should prove plenty tough and will be out to capture stake honors. The Fourth ward team is composed com-posed of several high school students stud-ents and high school basketball stars of last year and should furnish fur-nish plenty of fast competition as a stake contender. Robert Sum-sion, Sum-sion, Joe Cranmer, Ray Clark, Bill Shimizu, Erwin Anderson, and Norman Dunn are listed on the team. The M Men atheltic program is directed by Dick Conover. Coaches Coach-es of the various wards include: First, DeVere Weight? Second, Leonard Harward and Bliss Childs; Fourth, Dan Payne; Mapleton, Ma-pleton, Burton Tew. Third ward is not fielding a team. |
