Miss Patricia Donnelly, Don-nelly, who won the "Miss America" trophy at Atlantic City last Summer, Sum-mer, has announced her engagement engage-ment to Frank Bradford, Jr., 21-year-old halfback at the University Univer-sity of Alabama. Miss Donnelly is 19 years old. THESPIANS ENJOY DANCING PARTY Members of the Thespian club, high school chapter of the national na-tional dramatic fraternity, enjoyed enjoy-ed a dancing party Wednesday in the Little Theatre in the Art Building. A short business meeting under the direction of Arnold Barney, preceded the evening's entertainment entertain-ment after which refreshments were served and dancing concluded conclud-ed the entertainment. Dancing was in charge of Jack Laney. o MAX McKEE-HELEN De GRAW WEDDING ANNOUNCED Mrs. Delia De Graw of Spanish Fork wishes to announce the marriage mar-riage of her daughter, Helen, to Max McKee, son of Mrs. Agnes McKee, of this city. Ttoe marriage took (place in Provo, Saturday, January 20, with Mayor Mark Anderson of Provo performing the nuptial rites. The young couple plan to make their home in Springville. Several parties honoring the young couple are being planned both here and in Spanish Fork for next week. FIDELITY BRIDGE C1LUB MEMBERS ENTERTAINED Members of the Fidelity Bridge club enjoyed a delightful evening, Thursday, at the home of Mrs. Ann Johnson. Following a delicious hot lun-cheyn, lun-cheyn, bridge . was flayed with high score prizes going to Mrs. Rose Roylance . and Mrs. Flora Maiben. Mary Clegg received the consolation "prize. The text was Mosiah, chapters twelve, thirteen, and fourteen., with Clifford Pierce and Everett Billings leading the discussion, following which a delicious luncheon lunch-eon was served to approximately thirty guests and members in attendance. at-tendance. " " " - - THIRD WARD SEAGULLS ENJOY CANDY PULL Under the direction of their teacher, Mrs. Marjorie Davis, the Third Ward seagulls enjoyed a delightful party Friday night at her home. Class members in attendance enjoyed a candy pull, games and a tasty lunch. o GIRLS ENJOY HOT CHILI SUPPER A hot chili supper was enjoyed by a special group of girl friends Friday night at the home of Miss Melba Merritt. Following the supper which was served to Merlyn Mendenhall, Mel-va Mel-va Jensen, Arlene Hatch, and the hostess, the girls attended the dance. o HOME CULTURE CLUB ENJOYS NOVEL MUSICAL PROGRAM: Mrs. Howard Thorpe was in charge of a novel musical program pro-gram Friday, January 19, when Homie Culture club members met at the home of Mrs. Ronald Thorpe. Mrs. Thorpe gave a paper on American folk songs, commencing with music and musical lore of the American Indian. She traced the development of American folk songs up to the present time with a special reference to the work of Stephen P. Foster. Her presentation was interspersed with music representing the different types of folk songs. Representing the Indian, Mrs. Bill Blanchard sang "Pale Moon." Wn, L. Schreiner accompanied on the pia-no by his wife, sang two negro spirituals, "Deep River," and "Lindy Lou." Mrs. Howard Thorpe and Mrs. Arthur Condie sang "Billy Boy." Mrs. Morris Bird gave a piano solo, "Turkey in the Straw," representing the Appalachian Appala-chian group. The Foster group was represented by Mrs. Harold Christensen singing, "Jeannie With the Light Brown Hair," and the entire group joined in singing "Oh Susannah," and "Old Folks at Home." Mrs. D. B. Welch was in charge of the meeting, and a delicious luncheon was served to approximately approxi-mately 25 ladies in attendance. Special guests included Mrs. Ralph Smart, Mrs. O. F. Burton and Mrs. Maurice Anderson. MOTHERS STUDY CLUB TO MEET SATURDAY Mrs. Catherine Sumsion will be hostess to members of the Mothers' Study club at her home, Saturday afternoon. Mr. H. K. Romney of Provo will give a lecture on "Social Prob-lemjs," Prob-lemjs," and all members are urged to be in attendance. O. S. ACTIVES AND RUSHEES FETED BY ALUMS A charming event of the past week was a cocktail party Wednesday Wed-nesday night at the home of Mrs. G. Lowry Anderson at which the O. S. Trovata actives and Rushees of B. Y. U. were entertained by the O. S. Alumni. A southern colonial idea was carried out with a black and white color scheme throughout. Gardenias Garde-nias on a black and silver reflector reflec-tor was the central decorative piece on the table which was covered cov-ered with an exquisite Italian reticella cloth. White tapers burned bur-ned in silver candlesticks. From the table sixty varieties of tasty southern tid-bits were served. 1 Twenty active girls, 20 guests and 2 5 alumni members were in attendance. ' o ' TEACHERS' QUORUM ; ENJOY PARTY Approximately ten members of the First ward teachers' quorum 1 enjoyed a nicely arranged party held in the First ward scouting room Thursday evening. Mrs. Birdella Bearnson, club secretary was in charge. Following Follow-ing a delicious luncheon served to approximately 22 members and guests in attendance, Mrs. Bill Blanchard entertained with two vocal solos, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. D. B. Welch. A review re-view of the book, "Sam," was given by Mrs. Madge Thorn. The next club meeting is scheduled sched-uled for February 1, to be held at the home of Mrs. Helen Crandall. W. N. O. CLUB MEMBERS ENJOY PARTY Mrs. Verl Childs was hostess to members of the W. N. O. club Friday night at the home of Mrs. George Wilson. CAMP KOLOB AT MEETING Mrs. Leona Olsen, Mrs. Gertrude Gert-rude Clements, Mrs. Lola Weight, and Mrs. Zelma Beardall were hostesses to the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers Camp Kolob at an interesting meeting held Thursday Thurs-day afternoon at the home of Mrs. Olsen. A history of Mrs. Susannah Crandall given by Mrs. Wells Crandall was the main event of the afternoon's entertainment. An interesting lesson on "Early Transportation" was presented by Mrs. Minerva Weight. Vocal numbers included a solo by Eldean Weight accompanied by his mpther, Mrs. Lola Weight, and a vocal duet was given by Phyllis Peterson and Dale Law accompanied by Glen Law. A delicious luncheon was served ser-ved to approximately thirty-six who were in attendance.
