Show City Gets $119,322 Federal Grant FUND EXPECTED TO BE ENOUGH FOR TWO YEARS Plans are underway for continued con-tinued Improvements in the city streets and walks, waterworks, parks and cemetery departments following federal approval of projects pro-jects involving an estimated expenditure ex-penditure of $182,883. Of this amount the W P A will provide $119,322 and the city $63,551, city officials reported. This money will cover expenses of replacing some of the smaller city water pipe lines with larger pipe; installation of several hydrants, hyd-rants, and completion of the city sewer system, a large portion of which is now installed. It is planned to use a consider- able amount for oiling the streets on the city outskirts, and also to continue the i n s t a llation of j cement sidewalks and to build a concrete bridge. The bridge is to cost approximately $1200 and will ! be erected over Hobble Creek, on First West street between Center and First North streets. In both city cemeteries and the city parks, other major improvements improve-ments will be carried on, thus giving employment to a large number of WPA workmen, the next two years. |
