Show PHILLIP HOUTZ PASSES AWAY Phillip Edward Houtz, 75, former for-mer Utah county recorder, died Wednesday at his home, 573 East First North, of ailments incident to age. Mr. Houtz was born September 23, 1865, in Springville, a son of Phillip and Sarah Jane Hall Houtz. He received his education in the Springville schools and the Brig-ham Brig-ham Young academy ana later taught school in Springville. He also served for many years as city recorder in Springville and was Utah count? recorder from 1912 to 1916. He married Elva Jane Clyde of Springville on August 28, 1889, in the Manti L. D. S. temple. He served as clerk of the Springville Fourth ward for many years. Surviving are three sons and a daughter: Glendon E. Houtz of Oakland, Calif.; Karl G. Houtz of Huntington Park,. Calif.; Ray C. Houtz of Buffalo, New York; and Mrs. Vida H. Wood of Helper; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Interment was under the direction direc-tion of the Desei-et mortuary. |
