And then, with my dark brown eyes and olive complexion, together with a natural poise, it's just nothing for thtf photographer to make a real perfect picture. i w"5s,brn.July 11. last year, and was two months old when my daddy, Cpl. Junror Mikesell, saw me for the first time, and after that my mother, Mrs. Mariam Taylor Mikesell, and I were with Daddv eight months. ' He is now serving overseas in the Transportation Corps, and the ship he's on transports the wounded soldiers from the islands in the South Pacrfic back to the States. Daddy's job must be a sad one, to see s.ek and wounded men being taken to hospitals every day. My daddy is a cook on the ship and it's his responsibility to help get the fooa ready for the ship's crew and passengers. When we heard from him, recently, he was on his second trip. Before Daddy left, we lived at Pittsburgh, Calif., and it was there! when I was only nine months old, that I learned to walk. Now I say a few words and try to be company to Mother while Daddy is away. We live at the home of my grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Taylor. Tay-lor. I have another grandmother, Mrs. Erma Mikesell, at Oxnard, Calif., whom I have also visited. And, also, I have six uncles in the service, of whom I am very proud. |
