Bassett Smith of this city wish to announce the marriage of their daughter Faye, to William Bowdish of Provo, which took place Wednesday, March 13 at Spanish Fork with Henry Gardner, president of the Palmyra stake officiating. The young couple plan to make their home at 441 North Sixth East Street in Provo. In honor or the young couple a wedding party was held Friday night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bassett Smith, with Mrs. Vivian Averett, Mrs. Lydia Averett, Mrs. Lula Jones, Mrs. Minnie Oakey and Mrs. Vonda Wing acting as assisting hostesses. During the evening miscellaneous miscellan-eous games were played and vocal solos were given by Mrs. Bowdish, and also numbers by a girl's trio, following which a delicious luncheon lunch-eon was served to approximately forty-five guests who were present. pres-ent. An assortment of many useful and beautiful gifts were presented present-ed to the bride and groom by relatives and friends. LULA JONES HOSTESS TO FRIENDLY CIRCLE At the home of Lula Jones, Thursday night, members of the Friendly circle enjoyed an entertaining enter-taining evening of cards with prizes being won by Donna Baker, Minnie Oakey, and Vera Jahnson. Luncheon was served to Vivian Averett, Grace Richmond, Allean Lopez, Donna Baker, Wilda Oakley, Oak-ley, Orlyn Ash, Georgia Perry, and special guests were Mrs. Thel-ma Thel-ma Carter, Mrs. Vera Johnson, and Mrs. Minnie Oakley. MARILYN HALES FETED AT PARTY Miss Marilyn Hales was guest of honor at a birthday party held Friday at her home, the occasion being her eighth birthday. Games were played and a delicious deli-cious luncheon served to Carma Bird, Geraldine Robinson, Mary Lou Whiting, Mignon Follett, Jean Jenkins, Jenean Robertson, Joyce Taylor, La Rae Allen, Darla Rob-bins, Rob-bins, Margaret Coffman, Lela Olson, Ol-son, Carol Anderson, and the guest of honor. FACULTY LADIES ENTERTAINED Wives of the Springville men faculty members were entertained Thursday at the home of Mrs. Hugh Baxter. Mrs. Victor Frand-sen Frand-sen and Mrs. Nielson were assisting assist-ing hostesses. During the afternoon, Mrs. Blanche Beal reviewed the book, "Family Portrait," in a very interesting in-teresting manner. Luncheon was served buffet style with a St. Patrick's motif being carried out. The serving table was covered with a beautiful beauti-ful lace cloth and white and green sweet peas were used as a centerpiece, center-piece, with white candles in crystal crys-tal candelabra at either end. Shamrocks were used in other table appointments. Special guests were Mrs. Harold Har-old AJleman and Mrs. Wayne Johnson. FRIENDS SURPRISE TOM JARVIS AT SP. FORK A group of friends surprised Tom Jarvis with a party held at his home in Spanish Fork Friday night, the occasion being his birthday. A St. Patrick's theme was used CLUB MEETING HELD WEDNESDAY , Mrs. May Huntington reviewed the book, "Spring Came on Forever," For-ever," at the regular semi-monthly meeting of the book-review club held Wednesday night at the home of Mrs. Maurice Anderson. ENTERTAINED Mrs. Zina Dibble was hostess Thursday afternoon to daughters of the Utah Pioneers, Camp Mapleton at her home Thursday afternoon. A history of John S. Binks was given by his grandaughter, Mrs. Zina Dibble, and an interesting lesson on "Indians and the Pioneers," Pion-eers," was given by Mrs. Emily Jordan. In conclusion, refreshments were served to seventeen daughters daught-ers of the pioneers who were present. pre-sent. GRANT STUDENTS ENTERTAIN PARENTS At a lovely St. Patrick's tea held Friday at the Grant school, students entertained their parents in royal style. From two long serving tables, refreshments were served. One of the tables was covered with a beautiful lace cloth and daffodils were used as the central decorative decora-tive piece. At either end crystal candelabra held green tapers in keeping with the Irish theme. Other spring flowers were used to decorate the rooms. Girls of the fifth and sixth grades served, and boys from the fifth and sixth ushered and were door keepers. A program furnished by the whole school was given from 1:30 to 3:30 and was enjoyed by 170 parents. Parents then visited the rooms, and attended the regular classes of their children. The students were assisted by the P. T. A., under the direction of President Pres-ident Gertrude Clements. VIRGINIA SIMKINS HOSTESS TO BOOK OF MORMON CLUB In honor of the patron saint of Ireland, a strict St. Patrick's ' theme was carried out on St. Patricks' day when Miss Virginia Simkins was hostess to the Book l of Mormon club at her home. Green carnations decorated the room and refreshments further emphasized the Irish green and white color scheme. 'Reading of the Book of Mormon Mor-mon and an interesting discussion was enjoyed by approximately twenty members who attended. The next meeting will be held Sunday evening at the home of Clifford Pierce. FRIENDS ATTEND SURPRISE PARTY AT PROVO SATURDAY Max Hatch of Provo was surprised sur-prised by a group of friends Saturday Sat-urday night in special observance of his birthday. During the evening games were played and Max was presented a lovely white birthday cake decorated decor-ated with yellow candles. Present were Flora Allan, Max Hansen, Donette Fry, Paul Daniels, Dan-iels, Betty Anderson, Robert Greeves, Dorothy Long, Gladys Weight, and Max Hatch. C. S. C. ENTERTAINED AT VALLEY TAVERN Melba Sumsion was hostess to members of the Current Study Club at dinner Monday evening at the Valley Tavern. During the evening Mrs. Brockbank Brock-bank of Spanish Fork reviewed the book, "There Lies a Beautiful Lady." Covers were laid for the follow- and was carried out uniquely in the decoration of a huge, beautiful beauti-ful birthday cake. The cake was white edged with green shamrocks sham-rocks and held tiny green candles. can-dles. PARANADA CLUB ENTERTAINED MONDAY Carrying out a strict St. Patrick's Pat-rick's day theme of green and white with shamrocks, an entertaining enter-taining party was enjoyed by members of the Paranada club at the home of Virginia Simkins Monday night. The ladies during their sewing enjoyed social conversation, and at. the close of the meeting, refreshments re-freshments were served to Vivian Averett, Marva Averett, Ellen Erdman, Dorthea Dunkley, Norma Nor-ma Oakley, Florence Beardall, Thelma Beardall, Murril Curtis, and Fern Clegg was a special guest. S. T. CLUB TO MEET TONIGHT Members of the S. T. club will be guests of Mrs. Melba Pennington Penning-ton at her home this evening. AVE DELMA CLUB ENTERTAINED Mrs. A. C. Chader was hostess to members of the Ave Delma club at a lovely party at her home Wednesday evening. Dinner was served at one long table decorated according to a springtime theme with spring flowers decorating the table and room. Following dinner, bridge was played, with first prize going to Carrie Tripp, and second prize to Coe Straw. Norma Noe won the consolation. In addition to the club members present, Mrs. Vivian Johnson and Mrs. Thelma Clark were special guests. CARRIE JOLLIE i HOSTESS TO JOVALTY Using an Easter theme in menu and decorations, Mrs. Carrie Jolley 1 entertained the Jovalty club at a lovely party at her home Friday, Daffodils centered small tables from which luncheon was served early in the evening. Following luncheon bridge was played, with first prize being won by Margarel Sumsion. guest prize by Helen LEGION AUXILIARY ENTERTAINED AT MEETING Two department officers, President Presi-dent Eleanor Nelson of Logan and Secretary Levan Olsen of Salt Lake City, made their official visit with the local auxiliary Wednesday Wed-nesday evening. The program featured a talk on "Americanism," by Attorney Glen Sumsion. Mrs. Nelson and Mrs. Olsen also spoke on auxiliary work. Musical selections were given in the form of vocal duets by Russell and Harold Hales, accompanied ac-companied by their mother Mrs. Blanch Hales; a vocal solo, by Kay Weight, accompanied by Mrs. Lola Weight; and an instrumental duet by Kenneth Boyer and Mead Weight. Concluding the program, tasty refreshments were served to members mem-bers present. Hostesses for the occasion were Mrs. Florence Boyer, Boy-er, Mrs. Emma Long, and Mrs. Melba Pennington. D.U.P.
