Show JAYCEE DRIVE FOR HERALD FUND PROGRESSING The Junior Chamber of Commerce Com-merce Springville Herald subscription subscrip-tion drive, for the purpose of raising rais-ing funds with which to send the Herald to the local men and women wom-en in service, is still in progress. With almost 500 subscriptions to pay for, it is evident that a large sum must be raised, and so far the goal has not been reached. Harrison Conover, manager-edir tor of the Herald, has generously made a reduced rate for these subscriptions, and many local citizens citi-zens and business firms have made generous donations. The Jaycees are giving a ?50 bond and tickets on this bond may be bought from any Jaycee member. The purchase of a ticket offers a good opportunity oppor-tunity to help in the war effort as well as a chance at the best investment in-vestment of today the War Bond. Letters pour in every day from our service men and women, thanking the townspeople for the Herald, and many of their letters are printed each week. Those who saw the movie, "Guadalcanal Diary," Dia-ry," will not soon forget the scene when the mail came from home, nor the face of the man who didn't get any. Ralph Child and Charles Straw head the committee for the drive, and will welcome TOUR contribution contribu-tion NOW. |
