Show Garfield, it will be remembered, came to Hollywood from Broadway's Broad-way's Group theatre. In his first screen role, "Four Daughters," he portrayed a restless, cynical young musician. He was an immediate hit and bigger and better roles followed upon that one. As for Miss Shheridan, her phenomenal rise to screen fame is pretty well known to all. From the obscure ranks of beauty contest winners, she rose through the treadmill of "bit" roles to featured and finally fin-ally to starring roles. Vibrant charm combine with red-headed loveliness to make her one of the brightest stars on the present Hollywood Hol-lywood horizon. Together, Garfield and Miss Sheridan make a dynamic screen team and "Castle on the Hudson" is an ideal vehicle for them. A turbulent love story of a young couple who risk death to be together, toge-ther, it is a fast-moving drama, full of suspense. Garfield portrays an egotistical young gangster, arrogant ar-rogant in his confidence that his luck will hold. But like most other strong characters he has a weakness. weak-ness. That weakness is his love for Kay, the role played by Ann Sheridan. Beautiful and desirable, she is queen of the underworld, but her love is all for Garfield. Separated when he is finally apprehended, ap-prehended, they cannot stay apart. He comes to her when she needs him most, and she, in return, murders mur-ders another man to save his life. It is this point on which the plot revolves, and to tell how the situation is resolved would detract de-tract from the full dramatic impact im-pact of the picture. Also starred with Garfield and Miss Sheridan is Pat O'Brien, while the featured roles are played by Burgess Meredith, famous stage star, Henry O'Neill, Jerome Cowan, Cow-an, Guinn "Big Boy" Williams, EXCITING DRAMA SCHEDULED AT RIVOLI THEATRE Next attraction at the Rivoli theatre, starting on Friday, will be "Castle on the Hudson," starring star-ring John Garfield, Ann Sheridan, and Pat O'Biren,, an Anatole Lit-vak Lit-vak production, released by Warner War-ner Bros.
