Show Bids Let 25 Years Ago for Paving, Placing Curb, Gutter on Main Street a 25 Years Ago . . . With a low bid of $37,683.45, Gibbons and Reed of Salt Lake City were low bidders on a contract con-tract to pave and place curb and gutter on five blocks of Main Street from First North to Fourth South. The bid was $5000 below the engineer's estimate. Everett Boyer, Porter's cousin riding the handle bars was seriously injured in the accident. Class officers at the Springville high school were elected the past week. A total of 20 carloads of green tomatoes have been shipped from this area through the Springville packing plant. The amount is considerably con-siderably less than last year due to the extreme hot summer. Approximately Ap-proximately 140 acres were planted plant-ed to the croup. Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Allan announce the birth of a son Sept. 25. Mrs. Allan was the former Florence Carrick. Mr. and Mrs. John Fullmer have a baby son born on Tuesday. Of interest to relatives here is the marriage of Miss Melba Roy-lance, Roy-lance, daughter of Mr. and! Mrs. Austin Roylance to D. J. Scal-manini Scal-manini of San Francisco, Calif., which took place in Reno, Nev., Sep. 21. Mrs. Schalmanini has been employed in the Bank of America in San Francisco and they will make their home in that city after a few days visit in Springville. Sons of Utah Pioneers of this city have a meeting scheduled in the library October 7 at 7:30 p.m. Complimentary to her little daughter Margaret Ann who was seven years old Wednesday, Mrs. E. T. Crandall entertained a group of young , folks at the Crandall home Wednesday. George Henderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. M. Henderson of this city has been judged the healthiest health-iest boy in Utah county. His record re-cord missed being perfect by just a few points. He is a 4-H member. Attending the University! of Utah this year from Springville are Blaine Rowland, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dell Rowland, Kay Hardy, Har-dy, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Hardy and Bryce Thorn, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Thorn. The Utah State Road Commission Commis-sion has awarded a $180,895.99 contract to W. W. Clyde and Co. for the grading and laying of 15.5 miles of oil surface on a stretch of road which extends east from Fruitland. 15 Years Ago ... A group of Springville men have organized what will be known as the Springville Flying Club and plan to get their pilot licenses. They have also purchased a new Taylorcraft cabin plane and plan to get in regular instruction. In trie club are Lawrence Beach, president; J.
