Show General Elk Hunt for 1953 Opens Saturday; Closes Oct. 13 . Utah's general elk hunting season sea-son for 1953 begins Saturday, October 3. and continues through October 13. The general season hunt is set for ten of the nineteen elk hunting hunt-ing districts where a total of 1,500 permits were authorized by the Board of Big Game Control this year. The districts are: Manti-North, Manti-North, Manti-South, Nebo General, North Cache, Ogden River, Rich County, Salt Lake, South Ashley, South' Cache and East Nebo. The East Nebo district was originally orig-inally set up as a five day notice pre-season problem area hunt. But since no problem has arisen to warrant calling this hunt prior to the general reason, the fifty permit per-mit holders for this district will now hunt on the Nebo General from October 3 through 13, as originally or-iginally provided in the 1953 Elk proclamation. One early seascn elk hunt has already been concluded. This was in the Mt. Dutton district, where the Board authorized 35 bull only permits for an eleven day hunt that ended September 22.
