Show Ail Improvements, Buildings in Utah County to Be Re-Appraised; Realtors School and Farm Groups Responsible Recently the State Tax Commission Commis-sion ordered a re-appraisal of all improvements or buildings through out the State. Said re-appraisals to commence in Utah County. Recently Re-cently there were a series of press announcements from this office following a release given by Commissioner Com-missioner Patrick Healy Jr., chairman chair-man of the State Tax Commission, wherein he asserted that build- ings were not uniformly assessed and were under assessed based on current market values. We pointed point-ed out that the basis on which buildings have been assesed is a reconstruction cost schedule which was prepared by the state tax commission and distributed to the various county building appraisers. On investigation to determine why they commenced in ' Utah county I learned that a delegation of realtors from Utah county had waited upon the Tax Sub Committee Com-mittee of the Utah State Legislature Legis-lature during their recent session presenting a long list of home sales together with their assessed valuations and requesting that the building assessments be increased to be more in keeping with the current values. Also a 'delegation of farmers from Utah county had waited upon the State Tax Commission Com-mission protesting the assessed values placed on improvements asserting as-serting that they were not assessed asses-sed in proportion to the assessed values of their farm lands. In addition to these, two groups a delegation from the schools of Utah County also waited upon the authorities of our State requesting request-ing that there be a re-survey on home and building values in Utah County on present assesesd valu-Continued valu-Continued on Page Two I Quiet people aren't the onlvn who don't say much l 3 ' 1 "Ties. ' I am certain that they will not find the condition in Utah county any different than in any other county in the state of Utah. This will be bom out as they proceed through the various counties. It is only fair that each group who has shared in bringing about this re-appraisal share their full responsibilities in the eyes of the public. It is definite that the above named delegations have been prin-ciply prin-ciply instrumental in bringing about an increase in the assessed valuations of improvements. By J. I was also informed that protests have boen made from elsewhere in our state because of statistics released re-leased by Commisisoner Healy some two years ago in our Assessors Asses-sors School held in the University of Utah. As a result of these protests pro-tests the State Tax Commission has revised their improvement or building assessment cost schedule to be more in keeping with today's to-day's costs. Classifications placed on buildings in many instances will be raised and they are going into greater detail to place the assessments. This will mean that many homes and buildings will be increased in value. At the present time the State has five men working in Utah county and within the very near future will have four crews of two each working oh this reappraisal. re-appraisal.
