M.rlene is president of the Relief Society t her ward and while they are here she will attond several meetings meet-ings in Salt Lake City pertaininr-to pertaininr-to her work. Mr. and Mrs. Serge Nelson are enjoying the company of Mrs. Wm. r l,0f Los Aneles, California. Mrs. Tilford is Mrs. Nelson's mother mo-ther and she has also been the guest of a son Blain Kimball of Price. Mapleton MIA launched a new season with an opening social on Tuesday night. "Meet Me at Mutual" Mut-ual" was the theme of their program. pro-gram. A musical program was presented with each class represented. repre-sented. After a short class period a one-act play "Rosalie," was presented pre-sented with Doris Ann Bird, Mauiv ine Pulsipher and Stanley Jensen participating. Barbara Erdmann and a group of Bee Hive girls gave a demonstration on sports and Kathleen Nelson presented a group in dancing. The MIA was in charge of the services Sunday evening which were especially interesting. Rex L. Christensen, Navy LDS chaplain chap-lain from Salt Lake City, was the speaker and he gave a very instructive in-structive lecture on his experiences as a chaplain in two wars and also of his "underground" services for this country. Ruth Ann Jensen presented the MIA theme and a vocal duet was given by LuAnn Stevens and Mary Ann Bird. The following girls sang in a quartet: Roslyn Hall, Genean Girot, Marjean Hurst and Anne Wiscombe. Responsible for planning the evening's progam were Ida Diamond Dia-mond and Mary Stevens. The Mapleton JCs held their regular meeting September 23 in the Memorial hall. Color Captain Martin Perrero was in charge with Niel Whiting assisting. The purpose pur-pose of the meeting was to adopt the by-laws of the club. A National Na-tional Youth Organization was also discussed. Sixteen members were present. The spacious garage of Tony Antino was the seene of a delight ful barn dance Saturday night for the JCs and their partners. Mr. and Mrs. Martin Perrero, Mr. and Mrs. Niel Whiting and Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Hansen were in charge. A delicious supper was served early in the evening which was followed by dancing. The Relief Society held their opening social Tuesday September 29, in the ward chapel. They are entering into a new season of work with a lot of interest and cooperation from all. Senate Men-denhall, Men-denhall, chairman of the program committee conducted the following program which carried out the idea of "Memories." Piano solo, Norma Cox; tribute to Jesse Bear-dall, Bear-dall, returning counselor, given by Gladys Parry; violin solo, Alma Whiting; poem, Amanda Binks; vocal solo, Orpha Dee Johnson; a story, Ruth Anderson; duet, Len-ore Len-ore Bills and Beth Jensen and a violin solo, Alma Whiting. Refreshments were served to sixty-three members.
