Springville collected col-lected 9 hits to Nephi's 7. Both teams had 7 errors chalked up against them but Springville's were most costly. For Springville, Brent Haymond . did a whale of a job at pitching. Brent is developing into one of the league's best pitchers and is only a junior in high school, bunuay s game was a thriller 1 from start t o finish. The locals j mulled their opportunity to win the game by gelling men on bases ! and being tagged c-ut. Mark Hoo-J Hoo-J ver slammed out a triple in the fourth but was tagged out before being able to score. Managed by George Pehrson, the Springville team is much improved and is presently fielding one of the top clubs of the league. Despite their losses to Payson, 15-8, .on Memorial Day, and Spanish Fork here last Wed., 8-3. coach Pehrson stated that the club should win more of the remaining games. Pitching for the home-town club are Brent Haymond and Keith Christensen with ,Mark Hoover and Eddie Holmes as relief pitchers. pitch-ers. Veteran Bill King is holding down third in professional-like manner; Jack Jones is doing fine work as shortstop, with Jimmy Thorn securely on second base; Kent Miner, Glen Sanford and Doug Smoot are first basers with Norman Woodhouse playing utility infield and Jimmy Fullmer, Frank Hunt and Boyd Friel outfield. Jack Fullmer also plays second base. Catchers are Dee Sanford and Dave Oldroyd. Season family tickets are being sold by the club to help raise badly needed funds for the season.
