Show Council Considers Flood Control, July 4 Celebration, Health Problems At Meet Representatives from the state health department depart-ment met with the Springville city council Monday evening, with recommendations- for improvement of the culinary water supply, accord- i ing to report by City Recorder Lloyd Ashcraft. With members from the council, the health officers had gone over the source of the water supply in Bartholomews previous to the meeting and -.they recommended that the collection areas be fenced. Water from Bartholomews has not as yet been turned into the regular regu-lar system. If the collection areas are not fenced, it is possible the city will have to adopt a regular chlorination program, the officers stated. July 4th Plans A committee composed of Ralph Peay, Hasting Smith and Wallace Gurr met with the council, representing repre-senting the Hobble Creek Riding Club to determine whether the city would assist in the Fourth of July celebration. It was stated that inasmuch in-asmuch as the club's rodeo grounds are covered with flood waters, wa-ters, that phase of the celebration would have to be canceled. However, How-ever, the committee expressed a desire to sponsor races, contests, a parade and concessions on the holiday and possibly a program in the evening. The city decided to give $150 to aid with the plans. ' Discuss Flood And Flood Control Work A discussion of means to finance fi-nance flood repair was held at the meeting and Mayor Edward Clyde recommended that a resolution be drawn up by City Attorney Glen W. Sumsion in regard to flood control con-trol program to determine what aid could be procured and what method should be followed in securing se-curing aid. |
