Show ABOVE THE ifUUABMOO By LYTLK HULL TN HIS AMAZING and spell-bind- ing autobiography, Wbittaker Chambers recalls a remark which he made to his wife at the time he quit the Communist party, "You know, we are leaving the winning world for the losing world." And now he states, "Almost nothing that I have observed, or that has happened hap-pened since, has made me think that I was wrong about that forecast." fore-cast." Does this mean anything to yon, reader? Here is a man who knows what he is talking about if anyone does, a man familiar with all the inner working of the Communist party in America, fully cognizant of the firm and fixed determination I of the leaders of this great anti-God anti-God movement to conquer the world and to destroy all the best in human life which could later contest con-test their mastery. Was it Lenin or Stalin who remarked re-marked that "we must force the United States to spend itself into bankruptcy" so that it would become be-come easy prey to the machinations of the Kremlin? How well they are succeeding! Our present administration seems incapable of stopping the rush toward to-ward bankruptcy, and we, the people, seem too uninterested even to force our congressmen to stiffen their backbones sufficiently to check the awful waste of our resources. re-sources. All this Chambers envisaged en-visaged when he made the remark to his wife. All this he computes svhen he writes that nothing has occurred to alter his opinion. Maybe no one can save this nation na-tion and the lives of its middle classes, but as the danger which we now face has come about during dur-ing the administration of the so-called so-called Fair Dealers, we can't do worse than electing obviously more astute men next November and getting rid of a government which has cost us so dearly in stature and which has lost the trust and confidence confi-dence of the nation. Maybe the Republicans Re-publicans can stop the downward rush. Maybe they can get us on the winning side. The proper time to change a foundering horse is right smack in the middle of the stream. |
