Show Aureole Club At Interesting Meet The beautiful new home of Mr. and Mrs. Ralphr Child was the scene of the meeting of the Aureole Aur-eole club held this week. In addition addi-tion to an interesting tour of the home, the group was entertained by Mrs. Jean Ashby who demonstrated demon-strated the art of ceramics, which she stated is one of the oldest of all the arts. Mrs. Ashby gave a short history of the development of ceramics and then explained the step-by-step method employed in making the figurines from clay to their final baking processes. She also displayed a number of her figurines figur-ines through which she has received re-ceived recognition. Her work has also displayed in the Springville Art Gallery. An interesting letter was read by Mrs. Inez Chader which she had received from a woman in Czechoslovakia. Contact was made through a gift of seeds and clothing cloth-ing sent by the Aureole club and a group of Girl Scouts to Europe some time ago. The writer explained ex-plained that she was active in the youth activities in her country and had attended the world jamboree of the Girl Scouts held in Prague. She also stated that she had a young son who was active in cub scout work. She requested the name of a woman with whom she could correspond who was interested inter-ested in cub scouting and girl scouting, and Mrs. Howard Willis was accorded the pleasure. The club members also discussed discuss-ed plans for making their annual Art award. This award is given each year to a student of senior high school who is outstanding in the field of art and also has high scholastic ratings in other studies. stud-ies. The recipient is chosen by the art board of the high school and the money is to be used to further his or her education in the field of art. All 25 members of the club were present and enjoyed the delicious de-licious luncheon served by the hostess at the conclusion of the evening activities. Mrs. Mae Child was special guest. |
