Show Youth Leadership Banquet Highlights Church Events At Mapleton; Approximately 150 Receive Awards Mapleton's Youth Leadership banquet held Friday Fri-day night at the Mapleton hall, was one of the biggest big-gest and one of the most colorful events of it's kind jthis season. Mrs. Mane btone was 'in charge of arrangements assisted by Mrs. Lora Whiting, Mrs. Mina Llewellyn and Mrs. Mary Snow. The banquet tables held places for approximately 150 young people and were decorated with Easter motifs including baskets of pretty colored Easter eggs. Ned Whiting was toatmaster and announced the program beginning begin-ning with a talk by Bishop Oscar Whiting. Bishop Whiting then introduced in-troduced the stake visitors including includ-ing Frank Jensen, Leo Robertson, and Clifford Crandall from the High Priests Quorum, and Mrs. Verda Hunter, Mrs. Grace Crandall, Cran-dall, Mrs. Elva Peterson and Mrs. Vanda Jensen from the stake Girls Leadership. An interesting program was presented featuring Marilyn Johnson John-son and Marilyn Whiting in a vocal vo-cal duet, accompanied by Wel-burn Wel-burn Johnson; Janice Marchant, a vocal solo; Welby Warren, a reading; read-ing; Boyd Hales, a piano solo. A highlight of the evening was the presentation of an award to the South Quorum of Deacons, under un-der the direction of Bliss Harmer, for their fine church record. It was the only award of its kind in the stake and was made by Clifford Clif-ford Crandall. The awards, given in recognition of leadership among the youth of the stake; their attendance to meetings, paying of tithes and other activities, went to the following: follow-ing: Darrell Warren, who has a perfect per-fect attendance at Sunday School and at Sacrament meetings. Mutual Mu-tual and Priesthood meetings during dur-ing the past two - and - a - half years; Wells Wentz. Elmer Bird, Jr., Kay Harmer, Bliss Harmer, Har-mer, Norman Young, Jack Cox, Loris Diamond, Denny Murray.
