Show Senator Requests Funds for Deer Creek Power Plant WASHINGTON, D. C. Senator Wallace F. Bennetlt (R., Utah) Tuesday asked the House Appro-priatic.ns Appro-priatic.ns subcommittee on public works for $200,000 to begin construction con-struction of a 5000 killowatt power plant at Deer Creek darn. Recalling that hydroelectric were not constructed whten .the dam was completed in 1941, the Utahn said that am aigre-ement had now been worked ouJt between the Department of the Interior and the Provo Water Users Assn. He noted that the power .plant will .pay out its estimaed cost of ?1, 051,000 wih interest in about 17 years as well as pay for Weber Rliver Water which is necessary for power and irrigation aspects of the project. In iths aibsenoe of the power plant, water users this year have had to pay ?50,000 in cash for power water. The power was planned in the origicnal developement of Deer Creek dam as a means to help pay for the project, he recalled. |
