Show Fish and Game News Notes . . . Director J. Perry Egan announces announ-ces that at a recent meeting of the Fish and Game Commission the proposal of Harold S. Crane, supervisor sup-ervisor of game management, was accepted to hold a mourning dove hunt this year. Mr. Crane announces that, after canvassing the Wildlife Federations Federa-tions and wardens over the state, his department feels that a limited hunt can be held this season. He says that the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Wild-life Service is the controlling body concerning this hunt as the mourning mourn-ing dove is a migratory bird. This service has been asked to set the mfinrnimr rlrwe season in Utah for Utah Fish and Game Commission the lower waters of the Provo River were opened to fishing for this season. This newly opened ' area has not been opened for sev- I eral years. It extends from, the old ' Knudsen Swimming hole on down I to the mouth of the river. , Directo rEgan announces that this action was taken by the ( commission at the request of the sportsmen's groups in this area I . I September 1 to 9, inclusive, with a ten bird limit. The counties propsed to be opened open-ed for the shooting of mourning doves during this season will be Tooele, Juab, Millard, Beaver, Iron, Washington, Uintah, and San Juan. These counties are chosen because of the bird populatins there, as well as for their easily determined geographical geo-graphical lines. The hunt this year is a limited hunt. Further surveys, and results of this hunt, will determine the extent to which the mourning dove will be hunted in this state in the future. Director J.
