Funeral Services At Venice for Former Resident A number of Springville relatives and friends went to Venice, Sevier county, Tuesday, to attend the funeral fun-eral services for Mrs. Catherine Boyer Buchanan, 59, a former resident res-ident of Springville, who died Saturday Sat-urday following a' long illness at her home in Venice. Mrs. Buchanan was born in Springville, December 27, 1891, a daughter of John S. and Susanna Bailely Jarrett Boyer. She attended attend-ed schols here graduating from high school and she also graduated gradu-ated from the BYU in 1914. For a number of years, she taught school "in Venice and Sigurd. She was married to Boyd Buch; anan, September 6, 1916 in the Manti temple. She was the mother of nine sons and daughters and she reared a granddaughter, Diane Jones. She was in the presidency of the Venice Relief Society and Primary and was also active in Sunday School work, the Genealogy Society and in the DUP and ladies auxiliary of the Sevier County Farm Bureau. Survivors besides her husband, are three sons and five daughters: Garth Boyd Buchanan, Meridian, Idaho; Cpl. Lovell L. Buchanan, Fort Hood, Texas; Randall J. Buchanan, Bu-chanan, serving on an LDS mission ! t-h northern states; Mrs. Walt (Marba) Wolberg, Salt Lake City; Mrs M W. (Verlene) Haws, Eagle, Idaho; Mrs. Harold (Geneviev) Chapman, Moroc, Calif.; Mrs. Teddy B. (Betty Jo) Parker, Richfield- Mrs. Max (Berniece) Goates. Cent'erfield, 12 grandchildren; also seven brothers and sisters: Sel-voy Sel-voy J Boyer of Salt Lake City, formerly of Springville; Arthur C. and Edward H. Boyer, Mrs. John Fox and Miss Mary Boyer, Springville; Spring-ville; Mrs. J. S. Jarvis, Mesa, Ariz.; Mrs. Paul Dory, Gerber, Calif. A beautiful tribute composed by Mrs. Clara Boyer of this city was read at the services. |
