Show Loose Screens Are Accident Scource Falls kill about 400 pre-school age children every year, according to the National Safety Council, and quite a few of those deaths' are due to falls from windows where screens have given way. The Council urges parents to see that screens are fastened securely, se-curely, so that there is no possibility possi-bility of a toddler opening them or pushing them out. Wiring; common com-mon hook-and-eye fasteners together to-gether is one solution. Low windows on upper floors should have bars, grills or other positive protection so that youngsters young-sters cannot push or fall against the mesh. |
