Show Paining Merger flakes Possible Tunnel Project SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Mar. 2 (U.Ri Utah - Delaware Mining company officials here today confirmed con-firmed reports of a proposed merger mer-ger between Utah Delaware and Utah Apex Mining companies. Utah Delaware a subsidiary of the International Smelting and Refining company, and Utah Apex operate adjoining properties in Carr Fork, near Bingham Canyon, Can-yon, Utah. Utah Apex also operates oper-ates the Montezuma Apex mine at Placerville, Cal. Company officers said main purpose of the consolidation was to make possible construction of a five-mile transportation tunnel between the Bingham Canyon properties, and the International's huge Tooele, Utah, smelter. The proposed tunnel would cost approximately $1,000,000, officials said. Refusing to comment further on the merger, officials said the entire en-tire matter now rests with stockholders, stock-holders, who will vote on the proposal at Utah Apex headquarters headquar-ters at Portland, Maine, March 12. The combined companies will be known as the National Tunnel and Mines company. |
