Show BEET MONEY TO BE DISTRIBUTED Funds totaling $143,000 are pouring into the coffers of Utah county sugar beet growers this summer under benefit payments of the 1937 sugar act, County Agent S. R. Boswell reported today. A similar amount will be paid under provisions of the act for the next season, Mr. Boswell estimated. F armers throughout the county are well satisfied with results of the act he stated. Ninety per cent of the checks under the present payment are issued to 1,406 growers taking part. The checks are being delivered between June 21 and this week. The payment is based on $1.86 per ton delivered, minus a county administration expense of 1.3 per cent. A total of 6,407 measured acres were held in compliance tvith the act producting 74,857 tons of sugar beets in the county. Yield per acre was 1.19 tons, with sugar content 15.98 per cent and 3.1 hundredweight of sugar received per ton of beets. |
