Show Strikebreakers Hired Is Charge WASHINGTON, Jan. 12 (U.R) Homer Martin, president of the United Automobile Workers, charged today that the General Motors Corp. was employing professional pro-fessional strikebreakers in Detroit. De-troit. Martin made his charge shortly after arriving here for a conference confer-ence with John L. Lewis, Chairman Chair-man of the committee for indus trial organization, which is backing back-ing the strike of the U. A. W. He was accompanied by John Brophy, C. I. O. director. "We have reason to believe that professional strikebreakers are being be-ing hired by the company in Detroit De-troit and perhaps Flint," Martin said. He spoke as Gov. Frank Murphy, Mur-phy, in Lansing, summoned the national na-tional guard to prevent recurrence of the first rioting to mark the spreading walkout. "I believe that Pearl S. Ber-goff Ber-goff had been brought in by the company," Martin said. |
