Show AGRICULTURE STUDENTS WIN AT STOCK SHOW Under the direction of W. H. Anderson, the high school agriculture agri-culture department sent a stock judging team to the Ogden Livestock Live-stock show the past week in Ogden. Og-den. It was the boys' first experience ex-perience in contest work and they placed first among teams from Utah, 37 teams competing in the contest. The team placed fourth in the region. Both places, considering consid-ering the experience, was a fine showing for the Springville boys. The team was composed of Ruel Crandall, Keith Boyer and Howard Johnson. Ruel Crandall was third high point man in the region with 111 boys competing. Walter Zobell represented the department with an exhibition of four Suffolk sheep. Bert Cherrington and Keith Boyer are being recommended by the high school agriculture department de-partment for the $100 scholarship offered annually to a Utah county high school student to be used in agriculture pursuit at the U. S. A. C. at Logan. The agriculture boys of the high school have now closed their projects proj-ects and all indications are that a very successful year financially was experienced by project workers. work-ers. Seventy head of beef are now being fed by the boys who expect ex-pect to exhibit them in the San Francisco, Calif., show in March and also in the Utah Livestock show in Salt Lake City, in June. Preparation of speeches to be given in the annual agriculture public speaking contests, is being made by a number of students. The central division contests will be held in March and the winner win-ner at this time will represent the division in the state contests. Those who have already begun work on their speeches are Ruel Crandall, Elden Mackley, Howard Johnson and Keith Boyer. |
