Show Reorganization at Conference of Kolob Stake Several changes were made in Kolob stake organizations at the regular quarterly conference held Saturday night and Sunday in the Fourth ward chapel. President J. Emett Bird was in charge of the general sessions. Hilton R. Robertson who has - been appointed president of the Japanese L. D. S. mission in the Hawaiian Islands, was released as first counselor in the stake presidency presi-dency and A. W. Harmer former second counselor, was sustained first counselor. C. G. Salisbury former stake clerk, was sustained as second counselor and John L. Whiting, first L. D. S. ward clerk, was sustained stake clerk. Mrs. Hilton A. Robertson, who has served -an the stake Relief society board for 12 years, was released, and Mrs. Hannah M. Clyde was sustained to succeed her. Mrs. Clyde's place as second counselor on the board was filled by Mrs. Prudence Palfreymaji, a former member of the board. S. J. Boyer of the Second ward was sustained a member of the high council, and Daniel Witney, of the First ward, was sustained alternate high councilman. Apostle George F. Richards of the Council of Twelve, represented the church general authorities at the Sunday morning and afternoon meetings. President John H. Taylor Tay-lor of the missionary school, Salt Lake City, was also a speaker at the general conference sessions. Among other general church prin-fcals prin-fcals discussed, were, temple marriages mar-riages and the importange of missionary work. Both Mr. and Mrs. Robertson spoke at the afternoon meeting and expressed their appreciation for the cooperation of the fellow workers and members of the stake in general. A. Harmer of the presidency, spoke in the forenoon as did Ernest A. Strong, Peter Nielson and S. L. Mendenhall, recently re-cently retired bishops of the Second, Sec-ond, Third and Fourth wards respectively. re-spectively. Music at the conference confer-ence was given by the Fourth ward choir and a girls chorus under un-der the direction of Miss Helen Palfreyman, and by a ladies' sextet sex-tet from the high school, directed by Wallace Martin and by Stanford Stan-ford Martin who rendered a violin solo. The Sunday night program under un-der the direction of the stake M. I. A. featured a talk on "The Bible Land," by Dr. Sidney B. Sperry of the B. Y. U., Provo. Superintendent Floyd Miner was in charge. |
