Thorn who was assisted by Mrs. Beulah Whiting, Mrs. Lillian Childs and members of the various vari-ous scout troops, the Christmas seal campaign was completed in this community, this week. A generous response was given the project by many individuals and civic organizations of the com- munity, to which appreciation is expressed as well as to those who assisted in the drive. Selvoy J. Boyer of this city is scheduled to-speak- at the- fiist annual school for canning crop growers ana canners' field men in Ogden Friday and Saturday. The event is sponsored by the U. S. A. C. extension service in cooperation coop-eration with Utah Canning Crops and. Utah Canners' association members. Commander LaVar Anderson of the local post American Legion, Mr. and Mrs. H. T. Reynolds, the former national committeeman of the Legion and W. J. Phillips, attended at-tended the Child Welfare conference confer-ence in Salt Lake City recently. Miss Maria Johnson, superintendent superin-tendent of nurses at the Salt Lake City L. D. S. hospital was Saturday re-elected president of the Utah State Nurses' association at the annual convention held at the Hotel Utah. In honor of Mr. and Mrs. Hilton A. Robertson who have been called to preside over the Japanese mission mis-sion in the Hawaiian Islands, a testimonial in the form of a ward reunion will be held in the Fourth ward chapel Wednesday, January 20, announces members of the bisnopric. A program, dancing and refreshments will feature the entertainment en-tertainment with all ward members mem-bers invited to attend. Miss Geraldine Eggertson, Miss Roselyn Eddington and Verna A. Breinholt of this city, were this week chosen for parts in the B. Y. U. annual competitive play, "The Admirable Crichton," which will be presented by the speech department de-partment of the school, in College hall, February 11 and 12, according accord-ing to announcement from the school. A meeting of the Mapleton-Springville Mapleton-Springville Bull association will be neld Wednesday, January 20, at 7:30 p. m., at the high school, announces Secretary W. H. Anderson. Ander-son. The meeting is the annual one of the association and all interested in-terested are invited to attend. Lyman Rich, dairy specialist from fne U. A. C, Logan, will be in attendance. Aaron Mendenhall spoke at a meeting of the Spanish Fork post American Legion Wednesday night. The program sponsored by the local post under the direction of Mack Whitney featured also a solo by Scott Thorn and instrumental instru-mental music by Richard Love-ridge. Love-ridge.
