Show Churchill Urges England Regain Air Supremacy LONDON, Oct. 5 (UP) Winston Churchill, 'sharp-tongued conservative conserva-tive opposition leader, today urged Great Britain to protect herself against Nazi power by regaining supremacy in the air. "Never,' he said, "will we have friendship between British Democracy Dem-ocracy and Nazi power,.'' Asserting that the four-power agreement for dismembering Czechoslovakia was a "defeat without war' for the western democracies, dem-ocracies, Churchill said that "only by a supreme effort can they recover.'" "I foresee a policy of submission that will carry with it restrictions on freedom of speech and discussion discus-sion in parliament and the press," he said in announcing he would vote against the government motion mo-tion for a vote of confidence in its foreign policy. "The people should be told they have passed an awful milestone in their history," Churchill said-"Democracies said-"Democracies of the west have suffered a. defeat without war. They have for the time being been weighed in the balance and found wFinting but by a supreme i effort they can recover. "One method of protecting our-' selves against Nazi' power is to regain the old island independence by securing supremacy of the air." |
