Show LOCAL BOYS TRY OUT FOR T jOOTBALL I'ROVO. Utah (Special to the Springvillc Herald) Including half a team from Springville. 70 gridiron aspirants reported last week at Brigham Young university univer-sity here for freshmen football. Ev far the largest number of ox-liig'1 school athletes to appear fir frosh training1 a, nd the larg-csl larg-csl representation from Spring-viile Spring-viile in many a year, the army of gridders hails from thirteen stales and Canada. 'The most cosmopolitan group of iron men to ever pull on the suits of a Utah school, the squad boasts of seven men from Arizona, Ari-zona, five from Colorado, three each from Wisconsin and Idaho, one each from Oregon, Indiana, Minnesota. South Carolina, South Dakota, New York and Canada. Six of the 70 are from Spring-ville: Spring-ville: Frank Wlutncy, a guard; gernal Anderson, back; Bob Cranmer. tackle; Joseph Allen, back; and Hoyt Baxter, end. Reputations abound, but will of little consequence among such a squad, and Frosh Coach Wayne Soffe will have a difficult time narrowing the list to a team or two for competition. The Springville lads are largely former stars for the Springville high and are all large men. Each is expected to make a powerful (bid for position on the Cougar Kitten eleven which will, this year, encounter junior colleges of the state for laurels. |
