Belgium j soon will announce a triple line i of defenses to halt any German j invasion, and France will extend its formidable Maginot lines of i defense all the way to the sea, it was said in authoritative quarters today. Thus the result of Belgium's policy of neutrality will mean actually a stronger barrier than ever against any German attack on "France through Belgium. Belgium's new policy is expected expect-ed to be disclosed in a debate on national defense in the Belgian parliament next week. This debate it was said in Brussels, will clear up any misunderstanding regarding regard-ing King Leopold's statement about neutrality and will bring the announcement of the following defense de-fense lines : 1. A chain of concrete shelters all along the eastern frontier. 2. As in 1914. a fortified line along the Meuse river. 3. A defense line running from Liege and parallel to the Netherlands Nether-lands frontier as far as Antwerp on the sea. |
