Show RAILROADMAN DIES IN FALL Carl A. Schurler. 55, of Salt Lake, freight conductor for the Sat.t Lake and Utah railroad, was killed Saturday Sat-urday at 11:20 p. m. when he was thrown under his train while approaching ap-proaching Provo Junction, near the Pacific Coast Canneries plant. Alighting from the steps of the ear, Schurler bumped into a utility 'ole and was knocked back under the wheels of the train. His chest was crushed and his right arm nearly severed and otherwise mangled. Other members of the train crew called the county ambulance at the county jail, nearby and he was rushed to the Aird hospital, but died en route. Sheriff E. G. Durnell investigated the accident. The trnin was the regular, "mcr- cliandise local" which makes the trip from Salt Lake to Paysun and' buck every night. Schurler was a native of Salt Lake and had been employed by (he rail mad for 12 years. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Madge Schu rlcr. |
