Show Not a Pretty Picture It was not a pretty picture that the administration made in last week's elections. It was not pretty if we remember re-member the appeals of the administration leaders for the support of all progressives of all parties. Largely thru the elephantine political strategy of Postmaster General Farley the bunk about "one big progressive party" is punctured. In New York, the administration fought the only progressive prog-ressive in the race for mavor. This was done at Farley's suggestion for just one reason: to grab control of Tammany Tam-many Hall and the thousands of city jobs for the purpose of building a political machine. Well, the people spanked Mr. Farley and elected the progressive, La Guardia. In Pennsylvania, the Farley machine got behind a progressive to defeat the Mellon-Vare regime and won. But the administration did NOT support the progressive in Pennsylvania because he was a progressive, but because he called himself a Democrat. |
