Show MORGENTHAU TAKES PLACE OF WOODIft Secretary Of Treasury Is Forced To Quit Due To III Health WASHINGTON, Nov. 15-! (U.R) Henry Morgenthau, Jr., today was named acting secretary sec-retary of the treasury by President Roosevelt, in the place of William H. Woodin, who has taken"a leave of absence ab-sence due to ill health. Woodin had submitted his resignation resig-nation to the president, but Mr. Roosevelt, declining to part with his services, asked him to reconsider recon-sider and the leave of absence was the result. At the same time, the White House announced that Dean Ache-son, Ache-son, under-secretary of the treasury, treas-ury, had resigned effective Saturday, Satur-day, the same date on which Morgenthau Mor-genthau will assume his new duties. Morgenthau at present is governor gover-nor of the farm credit administration, administra-tion, Mr. Roosevelt has not yet selected a man for that job, which Morgenthau will vacate. Woodin plans to leave for Arizona, Ari-zona, where will seek to regain his health. |
