Show CITY LIBRARIAN FILES REPORT; RULESCHANGE A total of $792.81 was spent for books and $120.75 for periodicals for the Springville library in 1931, according to the annual report submitted sub-mitted by Miss Louisa Rowland, librarian. Books purchased last year numbered num-bered 574 with 346 adults and 228 childrens. There are in the library now 6428 books, with 4261 suitable suit-able for adults and 2167 for children. chil-dren. In 1930 there were 5936 books in the library, 1979 for children chil-dren and 3957 for adults. Registered readers or new cards issued during the year numbered 462 making a total of 2073 library cards issued. Last year the total circulation of library books somewhat increased with 11,948 among adults and 10,-972 10,-972 among children. A big percent per-cent of the adult books circulated were fiction with 10,028 volumes falling in this class. The average daily circulation is 75.39 volumes. The library subscribes' for four newspapers and forty "periodicals. Fines for books overdue last year totaled $123.72; lost and injured .25 cents," rent $35.60. ' Miss Rowland announces h change beginning March 10 in the charge for rental books, which will be one cent per day for a period of two weeks and two cents per day will be charged for books retained over two weeks. The previous rule has been ten cents for a two weeks rental per book. |
