Show STATE OFFICIAL MAKES SURVEY ON SANITATION C. O. Pickel, state sanitary engineer en-gineer with the Utah board of health, has just completed a survey of the sanitary conditions of Springville. As a result of his in-I in-I vestigations Mr. Pickel recommends recom-mends that a regular garbage collecting col-lecting system be established in the business district of the city. He points out that such a system would cost the respective merchants mer-chants about 25 cents a week, which if put into effect would reduce re-duce fire hazards very materially and conform more closely to sanitary sani-tary regulations of the state board. While in Springville Mr. Pickel made a sdrvey with the hope of procuring the sentiment of the business men of the city in the matter of establishing a sewer system sys-tem for the business district. He states that such a proposal met with general approval, and if contemplated con-templated should be done before Main street is paved. He pointed out that the public schools of the city should be connected con-nected with a sewer system in the interest of safeguarding the health of the children. The matter is being considered by Mayor Whiting and other members mem-bers of the city council, it is stated. |
