Show SERVICES FOR D.J.THOMAS WEDNESDAY Funeral services for David John Thomas, 61, former Springville electrician, who died from asphysi-ation asphysi-ation Saturday in a room at the Senior hotel were held Wednesday in the First ward chapel with G. L. Beardall of the ward bishopric in charge. The speakers were Dr. George A. Anderson, A. O. Smoot of Provo, and President J. Emmett Eird. Musical numbers were furnished by Ilene Bird, who gave a violin number; num-ber; Helen Ashcraft and Gilbert Johnson, who sang vocal solos, and a selection form the First ward mixed quartet. The inovcation was by Bishop A. W. Cherrington of the First ward and the benediction by John Waidworth. The dedicatory prayer at the Evergreen cemetery was by J. H. Manwaring. Mr. Thomas, upon retiring late Friday evening, neglected to turn the gas completely off from a small heater in his room, officers who investigated in-vestigated his death believe. He took the room at the hotel to avoid waking his family at a late hour, it is thought. He was found at 3:30 p. m. Saturday. Mr. Thomas was born in South Wales, December 13, 1870 and came to this country in 1878. He had lived in Springville nearly ten yeafrs and was at one time employed as electrician at the city power plant. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Hat tie Henrie Thomas, a son, David Thomas, Springville; three children by a former marriage, Zeph, Kedzie and Irene Thomas, Salt Lake; six step children, Mrs. Blanch Ostlund, Provo; Elis Henrie, Hen-rie, Salt Lake; Mrs. Eugena Hill. Manti ; Mrs. Melva Gottfredson, Lucille and Elzina Henrie, Springville, Spring-ville, four grandchildren, five brothers and sisters. |
