Show RESCUE BOYS FROM CAVE NOG ALES, Ariz., Aug. 5 (ILL1) Safe and unharmed, four Arizona youths today were recovering from their harrowing experiences in the depths of the three mile deep Crystal Crys-tal cave after being rescued late yesterday by searching parties. The lads were underground 26 hours. The boys are: David Coughan-our, Coughan-our, 20; Clay Coughanour. 17; Paul Aggregor. 18. all of Negates, and M. E. Hughey, 20, of Yuma, Ariz. Deep in the recesses of the cavern, cav-ern, famed for its refuge to renegade rene-gade Indians in frontier davs, rescuers res-cuers composed of troops from Ft. Stephen D. Little here, peace officers offi-cers and Nogales boy scouts found the four huddled together trying to keep warm. Weary from groping through passageways, with huge pits yawning yawn-ing to ensnare them if they made ; a misstep, the youths finally stopped stop-ped and awaited the rescuers, whose shouts they could hear faintly, but could not locate., "We were getting alontr fine, until un-til our candles gave out," Hughey t declared. "We became frightened when we realized we were lost." Search for the youths started at daybreak Monday when Hughey and David Coughanour failed to report at the Arizona military citizen citi-zen straining camp here. They had left camp Sunday morning for ex- nloration of the cavern which they had previously visited. |
